Elementary Cooking Course

The Programme is designed to give learners an understanding of hygienic practices in the kitchen; cooking methods and terms; the ability to measure and to understand and follow recipes.

As our training is practical and result-orientated, our expectation is that Learners will develop the confidence and skills which enable them to prepare tasty meals independently. Some of the dishes which will be prepared are Lasagne, Beef Curry, Roast Chicken, Stir-fry, Pot-roast as well as some baking and a variety of vegetable dishes.

Content/Recipes

Qualities of a Good Cook, Kitchen Hygiene, Cooking Methods, Cooking Terms

Measuring, Balancing the Meal and Table Settings.

Roast Stuffed Chicken, Gravy, Roast Potatoes, White Rice, Salad Dressings, Caprese Salad.

Basic Fresh Tomato Sauce, Spaghetti Bolognaise, Macaroni Cheese, Lasagne, White and Cheese Sauces, Buttermilk Scones and Chantilly Cream.

3 Green Vegetable Soup, Chicken/Beef Casserole, Beef Curry, Brown Rice, Sweet Potato and Butternut Bake, Orange Jelly Dessert.
4 Golden Fried Sesame Fish, Grilled Fish, Lemon Butter Sauce, Tartare Sauce, Crispy Fried Chips/Potato Wedges and Malva Pudding.
5 Roast Vegetables, Vegetable Kebabs, Marinade for Vegetable Kebabs, Beef Pot Roast, Savoury Rice, Beat and Bake Cake.
